PORTENDRacing to capture the hues of sunset, we were instead, treated to a rather moody scene. The immense power of the gathering storm clouds brushing against the darkening earth below. A lone tree acts as the sole intermediary between the two, as a tiny, insignificant pair of tail lights vanish in the abyss. Moments later, quarter sized raindrops fell through the ozone laden air as we escaped to the safety of our automobile.

Following two weeks of solid rain, I was running out of ideas when suddenly seredipity intervened. With the rain streaming down the windshield I perceived images that amalgamated the visions of the watercolorist with that of the photographer.

"THE BURNING BUSH" The slot canyons in Arizona are unlike anything you have ever experienced. The first time we walked inside, we were struck by the unmistakable feeling that we had entered a house of worship. The blazing golden sun enters through a narrow fissure in the top and reflects off opposing walls. As it descends to the bottom, the light is refracted to shades of orange, red, magenta, and then fades to black. Your film, as in astrophotography, is able to capture the subtleties of tone and color far beyond that which the human eye can record.

"Popsicle Girl" While wandering the back streets of Agua Caliente at the base of Machu Picchu in Peru, we came upon a fascinating young girl with a riveting gaze. Her expression and demeanor spoke of a rich and mystical heritage punctuated by a contemporary popsicle.
